Business Development Manager for Asia and Asia Pacific markets


Employment: Full-time

We currently have an immediate job opening for the position of Sale/Business Development Manager to oversee Asia and Asia Pacific markets:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Retain and grow existing Asia and Asia pacific customer base
  • Network with partners and distributors to expand the business developments
  • Identify prospects, perform need analysis, and follow up with via phone and remote demonstration
  • Prepare quotes, loan agreements, liaise with customers and procurement department to close sales
  • Develop and maintain current and accurate data in the sales pipeline tool on all sales activities
  • Ensure communication and coordination with the researchers/buyers/users and Delsys technical staff to facilitate successful handover and execution of  orders and current business
  • Arrange/ participate in trade-shows and workshops

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Four-year degree or associate degree in engineering, life science or business.
  • Business development experience with small R&D, life sciences or scientific instrumentation companies is a MUST
  • Three- to Five years of business development role with strong track record in sales role is a MUST
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meeting deadlines, interaction with clients from different time zones.
  • Strong record of people and problem solving skills is required
  • Ability of speak one or two Asian languages will be a bonus
  • Travel is required

Software Engineer


Employment: Full-time

We are seeking an ambitious software engineer to join our focused product development team. This position will help manage and develop our signal acquisition and processing software platforms, which run on PC and mobile devices. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make impactful contributions for product advancement, while working directly with senior management to achieve the stated goals. The software engineer will be exposed to all elements of the software platform, and must be willing to learn about hardware interfacing strategies and signal processing.

In this role you will be working with the following tools: SciCharts, National Instruments DAQ-MX and VISA, and WPF. And, command-line programming may also be included. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate an aptitude for managing complex projects and have an ability to solve problems independently. Strong communication skills and English fluency are required.

Sales Engineer


We are seeking an ambitious entry-level sales engineer with a B.S. or Associate’s Degree to join our sales and technical support teams. In this role you will be exposed to the following: sales development, technical support, quality assurance, and R&D.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare/file sales documents
  • Update managers by consolidating, analyzing, and forwarding action summaries
  • Provide product, promotion, and pricing info to customers

Signal Processing Engineers


We are seeking a signal processing engineer to assist with algorithm development for processing muscle activation and body motion signals acquired during various human movements. The algorithms require knowledge of MATLAB in the following: signal processing, decision theory, pattern recognition, and machine learning

You will join a dynamic and growing team and gain relevant technical and scientific expertise, as well as professional development. You will interact directly with other R&D and software development teams. This experience will allow you to collaborate with researchers from surrounding universities in Massachusetts.

Primary Responsibilities

Along with the Delsys research staff, you will design and implement algorithms to process neuromuscular and human movement signals acquired from healthy and patient populations during various human movements, including: exercise, gait, daily living activities, and speech.

Required Qualifications

The candidate must:

  • Have completed or be enrolled in a graduate level engineering program
  • Be comfortable working with time and frequency analyses of signals
  • Have a working knowledge of decision theory
  • Have experience with supervised/unsupervised pattern classification
  • Be comfortable developing prototype algorithms in MATLAB

Shipping Assistant/Office Assistant


Employment: Full-time

We are seeking a shipping/office assistant to assist the company with processing domestic and international orders. You will be responsible for processing high-value research equipment using UPS or DHL software.

Primary Responsibilities

You will be tasked with organizing and maintaining daily shipping logistics, including:

  • Preparing packing slips, invoices, and documents related to international shipments
  • Maintaining an order database
  • Communicating shipment schedule/dates with clients/distributors
  • Routine clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, and filing
  • Interacting with UPS/DHL on logistics matters

Required Qualifications

The candidate must have:

  • Minimum of 2 years of processing domestic/international shipments
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and ability to work as a team member

Preferred Qualifications

Internships and Co-Ops

Internship opportunities and co-ops are available in 2017 for engineering and graduate students who are interested in gaining meaningful experience in the research, development, and support of wearable sensor technologies for human movement research.

Interns will work hand-in-hand with experienced hardware and software engineers and scientists on the following: algorithm and software development, signal processing, and hardware design.

Internships are held May through August, whereas co-ops are one-half year commitments running January through June or July through December.

Applicants who are accepted for an internship or co-op will be paid hourly, and they will work at our Massachusetts headquarters (23 Strathmore Road, Natick, MA 01760).

Currently enrolled college students must have completed at least one year of coursework. International students must be eligible to work legally in the U.S. (Delsys does not sponsor working Visas for internships and co-ops). Students must secure their own housing and transportation for the duration of their term.

Co-op position applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

R&D Intern in Machine Learning


We are seeking an individual for summer 2017 to develop novel activity monitoring algorithms for the tracking of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease). The project involves detecting the presence and severity of involuntary motor symptoms from EMG/IMU signals collected by sensors worn by Parkinson’s patients during normal daily activities in a home-like environment. The goal of the project is to use dynamic machine learning algorithms to correctly classify the involuntary motor symptoms detected by an expert clinician.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with Research staff to design an algorithm architecture for monitoring quality of movement.
  • Analyze signals to extract key features for discriminating healthy form symptomatic movement.
  • Design, train and test algorithms for detecting the incidence and severity of movement disorders.

Required Qualifications
The candidate must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in robotics, biomedical or electrical and computer engineering.
  • Have taken courses in signal processing, machine learning, pattern recognition or similar.
  • Be fluent in MATLAB

Hardware Engineering Intern


We are seeking a motivated electrical engineering student with a strong interest in analog circuit design and body-worn sensor technologies. The candidate will be working with the hardware development team and directly with senior management to help test a new product platform and develop several manufacturing test fixtures for this family of devices.  Additionally, the student will support hardware activities needed for ongoing research products which aim to evolve sensor technologies and their applications.  The candidate will be exposed to cross disciplinary approaches in engineering which will include working directly with mechanical design, interfacing with the software team and assisting with material testing and prototype development.  Candidates must demonstrate an affinity for analytical thinking and pragmatic problem-solving, and will be expected to perform hand’s-on bench-work as well as contribute to documentation.  Candidates will be exposed to various elements of the product life cycle and will be working with other engineers on time-sensitive and mission-critical projects. Success in this post will be determined by the candidate’s ability to learn and apply pragmatic engineering skills, and his or her ability to understand and process design details.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering in designing and building prototypes for research projects and new product concepts.
  • Assist engineering in performing verification and validation activities on a new body worn sensor platform currently under development.

R&D Intern in Signal Processing


We are seeking an individual for summer 2017 to analyze and process signals for speech recognition. The project is part of a collaborative effort across a multi-disciplinary team of speech processing experts, clinicians, and engineers that aims to develop a prosthetic worn on the face that will enable people without vocal speech (laryngectomy users) to communicate via sub-vocal speech (mouthing words). The project involves analysis of EMG, IMU and other sensor signals that are recorded from muscles of the face and neck during mouthed speech to monitor the quality of the mouthed words, detect the start and end states of speech and extract discriminable features for building phoneme-based speech recognition models.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with Research staff to process EMG, IMU and other sensor signals to develop automated algorithms for monitoring signal quality and extracting features for speech analysis.
  • Identify subject-specific parameters for amplitude and temporal characteristics of mouthed speech.
  • Develop finite state machines for automatic detection and segmentation of start and end of speech.
  • Evaluate discriminable features for phoneme-based speech recognition algorithms.
