Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a motivated engineer with strong organizational skills to work directly with the product manufacturing team and the product development team to help develop and establish advanced manufacturing processes and methods for our wearable sensor product line. The position will provide exposure to cross-disciplinary approaches in engineering, including mechanical/electrical design, software integration, material and component sourcing, and project management. Candidates will work directly with senior management in a time-sensitive and mission-critical environment to ensure that production line demands are met and maintained. Duties will be performed within the context of an ISO13485 Quality System for medical devices. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have a demonstrable affinity for analytical thinking, pragmatic problem-solving and an interest in process development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage manufacturing resources to ensure a predictable product schedule
  • Perform validation and optimization activities for manufacturing and assembly methods.
  • Lead the exploration of materials and novel packaging for established sensing modalities
  • Generate, organize and ensure that manufacturing records are complete and maintained.
  • Perform Incoming Inspection on critical parts and subassemblies and review data to ensure acceptability of outsourced production and maintain a high production yield.
  • Develop and maintain lot history records of production activities
  • Guide and assist Manufacturing Technicians with small batch production activities, including hand soldering, testing and mechanical assembly.
  • Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of complex electro-mechanical test apparatus
  • Help in preparing and documenting Engineering Changes
  • Reviews Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure completeness and compliance with internal
  • Restricted Substance Control policies
  • Assist with keeping manufacturing areas organized and efficient

Required Qualifications

The Candidate must:

  • Be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a baccalaureate degree in an accredited engineering program
  • Have superb organizational skills to manage and track the high volume of information related to production activities
  • Have an understanding of assembly and production methods and processes
  • Be comfortable with understanding mechanical drawings and electrical details.
  • Show independent problem-solving capability.
  • Be familiar with medical device development activities or ISO13485 product development activities

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate should:

  • Be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a baccalaureate degree in an accredited engineering program
  • Have some prior industry experience
