Many calculations applied to EMG data assume the signal will have zero offset. The Remove Offset option is available on some calculations where this assumption is common and will remove offset introduced into the EMG signal by the instrumentation. For example, RMS can be used as a measure of muscle activity only after the signal offset is removed. For non-EMG data, the researcher must consider the effects of selecting this option carefully.
