Dr. Charles J. Heckman, Professor of Physiology and Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Physical Therapy & Human Movement Sciences at the AbilityLab (USA), will visit Delsys on Friday March 15th to present his research.
The input-output function of the motoneurons varies over a wide range, depending on the interaction between neuromodulatory inputs from the brainstem and local inhibitory inputs within the cord. We have developed biologically accurate computer simulations of a motor pool to link motor unit firing properties to motoneuron inputs in humans and animals.

Dr. CJ Heckman did his PhD on voltage clamp of spinal motoneurons at the University of Washington. After a post doc at NIH, he joined Northwestern University in 1988, where he is now a Professor in the Department of Physiology. His lab has studied spinal motoneurons for over 30 years.
