Dr. Gregory Scott Fischer, Associate Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), founding director of the Automation and Interventional Medicine (AIM) Robotics Laboratory and faculty director of the PracticePoint Research and Development Center at WPI visited Delsys on Tuesday June 19th to present his research on medical robotics. Dr. Fischer presented an overview of the research projects of the AIM laboratory such as currently active studies on interventional surgical systems and computer-integrated surgery that allow to enable “closed loop medicine” by using real time feedback to guide a surgical procedure. Other projects include wearable assistive and rehabilitative robotics, as well as socially assistive robots.
