Dr. Paul DeVita, Leroy T. Walker Distinguished Professor of Kinesiology and Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory at East Carolina University (USA), will visit Delsys and present his research work on “ECU’s Wide World of Biomechanics: An Interactive, Audience Directed Stroll Through Locomotion Science”.

ECU’s Wide World of Biomechanics: An Interactive, Audience Directed Stroll Through Locomotion Science
Locomotion biomechanics can be used to understand the physical nature of some of our most important daily activities. Locomotion biomechanics provides a window through which we can view the interaction between human health and human movement. We will explore a variety of interactions between locomotion biomechanics and human health as determined by the audience’s interests and curiosities.

Dr. Paul DeVita

Dr. DeVita has been investigating the biomechanics and motor control of human locomotion for the past 30+ years. He has published in the areas of ACL injury, aging, knee osteoarthritis, obesity, running injuries, and locomotion in healthy people. Dr. DeVita twice served on the Executive Board for the American Society of Biomechanics and on several study sections for the NIH but most often with Musculoskeletal and Rehabilitation Sciences. He has been associate editor for the Journal of Applied Biomechanics and Exercise and Sport Science and he is also a Fellow of the American Society of Biomechanics, the American College of Sports Medicine. He is also a member of the International Society of Biomechanics and the National Academy of Kinesiology. Pretty good at ping pong too.
